Project Description
The client identified that by installing an additional belt filter into its wash plant, it could gain a marginal increase in yield and exploit increasing unit price for its product. The project involved installing an additional belt filter as the main item of process equipment along with an additional buffer tank, conveyor, associated civil works, associated electrical works and associated tie in works to the existing wash plant.
Wave’s involvement started at concept stage with the first stage of works to prepare general arrangements, process review, preliminary scope of works and preliminary capital estimate. Once this phase of works was completed and subsequent management approval granted, Wave executed detailed mechanical, electrical, structural and civil design and documentation.
After completion of a formal tender process and award of contracts, Wave completed structural shop detailing and mechanical pipe work detailing for construction. Wave also provided technical support during construction (both on site and design office based). The project was completed on schedule and under budget, with negligible contract variations. The plant has recently been handed over to operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Wave’s responsibilities included all engineering, design, documentation, and engineering support during construction and shop detailing.
Benefit to the Client
Project execution through a fundamental, staged process enabled the client to deliver a project which was technically accurate, within budget, and value added to their organisation.
Value Added
Wave’s ability to complete accurate detailed design and in house processes for information flow from engineering to detailing added value in terms of smooth and trouble free construction.
